Each light is either a portal or an anglerfish that will try to eat you. Alluring Anglerfish: The inside of Dark Bramble has a thick fog, with the only way to navigate is to follow distant lights.Still, its um, time for something new, now. The future is always built on the past, even if we wont get to see it. you know, thats okay! Its never really gone completely. Riebeck: I learned a lot, by the end of everything. ![]() The expansion centres around a mysterious deep space anomaly detected by the Hearthians in the far reaches of the Solar System, with the trailhead beginning with a simple new museum exhibit. It was later released for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/SA on September 15, 2022, with the Nintendo Switch version's release date to be decided.Įchoes of the Eye was announced as DLC for the game, and was released on September 28, 2021. The game was first released on Xbox One on (and on PC the next day), with the PlayStation 4 release following on October 15. Your main task is to uncover the history of the Nomai and their people, and to follow in their footsteps to figure out how to save your solar system. Each planet is unique and has a gimmick to it that makes exploration different per planet you're on, from the crumbling crust of Brittle Hollow to the sky-high water spouts of Giants Deep. The game is a first person exploration game that focuses around exploring different planets in your solar system. This is a mystery that's bigger than your entire race's collective knowledge of the Nomai, and it'll take guts, determination, and a whole lot of smarts to figure out just how to save your world. You discover quite quickly that you're stuck in a time loop, but you decide to use this to your advantage- maybe, just maybe, the Nomai had something to do with why the sun went all kablooey, and by exploring their ancient settlements and ruins, one could be able to stop your imminent demise. (Or possibly you die before you even reach that point the solar system is a dangerous place, after all.)Īnd then you wake up back on your home planet, staring up at the stars. The local sun somehow goes supernova and violently explodes, wiping out your whole solar system and killing your entire race in a blast of nuclear fire. About 20 minutes into your first flight, however, disaster strikes. As the newest recruit to Outer Wilds Ventures, you are an astronaut who's just completed their training and is ready to embark on their newest job: strapping in a ship, blasting off into space, and finding out the secrets of the Nomai, a race of precursor aliens who mysteriously vanished long ago. They do make a stable location to land your space ship, though.Outer Wilds is an open-world exploration sandbox game with heavy inspiration from immersive sim games, developed by Mobius Digital and published by Annapurna Interactive. Though visually striking, player cannot do much with the giant, four-paneled towers that sit on each. The project's connection to the mines on Timber Hearth, the strange Nomai statues, the giant satellite orbiting the sun and many other mysteries and artifacts is discoverable throughout the game. ![]() One of the three major enigmas in the game, the mysterious Ash Twin Project is frequently referenced in Nomai writings and seems to be connected to almost every major endeavor the Nomai undertook in the solar system. The towers' heights (and thus the order in which they are revealed) are arranged in their planetary order, from the sun outward, beginning with the Sun Station tower, and followed by the Ash and Ember Twin towers, the Timber Hearth tower, the Brittle Hollow tower, and finally the Giant's Deep tower. Each tower also has Nomai records for you to translate. For example, the Giant's Deep tower resembles a Cyclone and the Brittle Hollow tower resembles an outer piece of the planet's crust. There is one for almost every major astral body in the solar system, each tower's architecture is meant to resemble the world it warps to. The Ash Twin is a dynamic world with much to explore during different stages, but the most distinguishing features are the Warp Towers. As sand levels drop, several uniquely shaped towers connected by a stone bridge rise to the surface along the equator and the small polar towers are revealed to be pieces of large, four-winged energy stations similar to the one on Ember Twin. After all the sand has drained away, the black, glittering ore that covers the planetary core is visible.īefore the sand is disturbed, Ash Twin lacks any defining features besides a small column at each pole. The smooth layer of sand that covers almost all of its surface drains away into the canyons and caves of Ember Twin, leaving the dark, jagged bedrock of the planet exposed. Ash Twin's initially featureless geography changes dramatically over the course of the 22-minute time loop.
